Like any Steve Lacy album, Oh Yeah is about love. But unlike any other Steve Lacy album, this one has a cinematic feel, and as i listened, I could not stop picturing early 2000s rom-coms. Every song reminded me of a specific movie, and I wanted to share them with you. So here’s a list of the rom-com each track reminded me of.
Hearing Steve say, "Life's a bitch and then you live again," followed by the agony of the instrumental, I immediately pictured Tom waking up the next day after that devastating night at Summer's engagement party. That scene hurt so bad. I literally couldn't breathe watching it.
2. "Is It Cool?" – Love Don't Cost a Thing (2003)
In this song Steve is basically realizing after doing his dirt that all he wants is this one person. And that's basically what Alvin and Paris realized after all of the Alvins carrying on with his new found popularity, and Paris's denial of liking him. They realize they just want eachother.
3."The Feeling" – Just Married (2003)

4. "Pure Colour" – Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
This song felt so futuristic so naturally the most futuristic rom com popped into my mind.
5. "Show You Me" – My Sassy Girl (2001)
When this song comes on, I picture Gyun-woo being intimidated by the girl...but still wanting to be around her.
6. "Doom" – American Pie 2 (2001)
This song is basically American pie whenever something freaky was about to go down.
7. "Nothing" – Brown Sugar (2002)
Nothing could keep syd of Dre's mind.. not even a wedding or wife lol
The instrumental of this song reminded me of the nature of Andy and Trish's relationship.
9. "Nice Shoes / In Your World" – 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Every time I hear this song, I can't help but dance like how kat did on that table
10. "Bebe" – Amélie (2001)
The whimseyness of this song, reminded me of the whimsey-ness of Amélie.
